New Digs!
I'm happy to announce that starting on January 6th, Figure Drawing will be in Dragonfly Yoga Studio, 810 Caroline Street. It's a beautiful, open space and I think it will be just perfect.

Opening the Salon
Things are changing for figure drawing. I think it's time to run it as a small, weekly salon in a much more intimate setting - with the same great models. The new blog will be about promoting those in the salon, upcoming shows, lessons and, in particular, thoughts on drawing from life.

Changes Ahead
We had a great session on Monday and we're so glad that Sarah is back in town. Beautiful poses and a nice relaxing evening.
We're going to be changing things up for the fall & just see how it goes. We'll talk about it all on the 30th.

For those who haven't seen the first film, "Herb and Dorothy" or heard about the Vogels passion for art and their collection click here. I watched it on Amazon Prime … what an amazing couple.
The documentary follow-up "Herb and Dorothy 50x50" has just been released and will have one showing in VA at the Charlottesville Coffee House on November 8th. For more info click here.
I have a very early (7:45) appointment on Monday, the 23rd, so we'll be skipping drawing next week. K.C. will be posing for us at the Unitarian Fellowship on Monday, Sept. 30th.

Woo Hoo
My life is almost getting back to normal - for months my studio has been filled with everything "bathroom" as we tackled a new master bath. I'm anxious to get back to work as the last of it will be out by the end of the month. If it weren't for figure drawing once a week, aside from the occasional art documentary, I would have been totally without art!
We had a great time and it was so good to see everyone after the time off. Our great thanks to Emily for wonderful, perfectly still, poses - very inspiring.
We'll be drawing Sarah (while she's state-side) on Monday September 16th. I hope to see you there!

Back at "IT"
We'll be back at the Unitarian Church on Monday, Sept. 9th. We'll be drawing a new model, Emily, and it'll be great to be back with everyone.
I've had a very "figure drawing" themed weekend - I watched a great documentary on the fight for ownership over Egon Schiele's "Wally" painting and spent the morning looking at and reading about Lucien Freud's work - both are mesmerizing.
I hope to see you all tomorrow night to draw Emily.

Taking a break ... & other things
Thanks to the artists who attended drawing on the 15th, it's always a great time! Also, thank you, thank you, thank you, to K.C., for perfect poses.

Perfection
Sorry, for the very late post of last Monday's session ... house guests and a holiday.
The last session was a lot of fun and Janet was, as always, a perfect model. I'm sorry we didn't get to keep our plans for the closed session - we'll try again around July 22nd or the 29th..
