A big turnout for our last session of the season. We couldn't have asked for a better night. It was a bit on the warm side but the expected sauna like conditions didn't materialize. A terrific new model provided us with some of the best poses of the year.
Fredericksburg Figure Drawing is an evolving entity. The common thread we all share is a passion for working from the live nude. Somehow the challenges the figure presents are more than compensated for by the rewards. All aspects of ones art benefit from the effort.
We will start up again in the cooler days of September.

Except for the naked part this is probably not a title one would expect to see on a blog devoted to the figure. Our model came with some whimsy in his prop bag and presented us with a drunken, naked cowboy pose. Everyone seemed to enjoy the novelty and produced some excellent drawings from that pose and the others.
We will return to our regular fourth Monday of the month session next week May 23rd at 7:00pm. There will be a female model.

The group had a collective case of fumblefingers Monday night. Easels, pencils, drawing pads, water bottles pretty much everything was hitting the floor. In contrast the mood in the room was light and some great drawings resulted.
Due to a scheduling conflict our next session will take place the third Monday of the month May 16th at 7:00pm. We will have a male model.

Our model Monday night traveled a long way to pose for the group. Many of the artists also navigate long distances and overcome other obstacles to attend our sessions - not always an easy task on a Monday night. But, as those dedicated to the figure know, working from a live model makes it all worth it.
We will host a new male model at our next session on Monday, March 28th at 7:00 pm.
