Posting on this blog each week is good therapy, it forces me to reflect on the 2 1/2 hours we spend together every Monday night, for almost 3 years now, and realize how much more we all get out of drawing in a group than just practice. It's about being with supportive peers who inspire, console and bolster us. Painting, like a lot of creative endeavors, can be isolating and when we surround ourselves with those who have similar goals, we're infused with a fresh energy. Someone in the group will always inspire, share a great idea, offer a solution or provide a creative spark that keeps us going. I think it's also what keeps us coming back for more.
It was another awesome night in the bookstore and everyone created some outstanding work. We are so fortunate to have this resource and our lovely Janet, who is always such a joy to draw and always gives us the most perfect poses.

ReplyDeleteNice to see all the new work! I hope all of you are doing well, it's been too long since I've been able to come to a session.
Unfortunately I won't be able to come to many sessions this semester, as on Mondays I have 2 classes which overlap the life drawing sessions. I'll try to come on occasion when those classes aren't too intense. Hopefully I can make it in once a month at least. See you then, and please tell everyone I said hi!
Your name comes up often ... we miss you and can't wait to see what you're creating. Susan
