The Best!

The new construction at Read All Over Books is great and we have even more room for drawing! It's a great space and it's just about as perfect as it can get.

We had a good time last night, there was some great work produced and Janet was, as always, spectacular.

We were surprised with a construction site last night ... but at least it was warm. It looks as though Read All Over is going through a makeover. I'm sure it'll look great when it's all done, but there was a little more dust (and a chop saw) than usual.

We changed things up a bit last night and had Beth pose closer to us. I think it worked out well, but we'll keep trying until it's perfect.

Brrrrrrrrrr

What a c-c-crazy night! There was no heat downstairs in the bookstore and we got to see what it's like to draw and torture an unclothed model in, what felt like, subzero temperatures. Artists zipped up hoodies and wrapped themselves in coats and shawls and drew. When the cold got to be too much, we moved upstairs to thaw out our model and continue drawing. It was an - um - interesting evening.

Despite the cold, and the move ... there was some beautiful work produced last night.

Thank you all for coming and our thanks to Les for enduring the shivering and discomfort for art's sake.

Beth will be posing for us on Monday, January 23rd, Janet will pose on January 30th and Linda on February 6th.

Up Next!

Drawing had to be cancelled this week because of inclement weather. I really missed the opportunity to draw Linda and catch up with everyone, but the weather gave me a chance to catch up on some reading. I highly recommend this book, it's a great read for artists ... and everyone!

Drawing in the New Year

It's hard to believe - 2012 already! Time flies, but it's time well spent when you're drawing from life - at least once a week. It's also a funny lesson regarding time - how some poses seem to last forever and some are over when you feel like you just got started ... a lot like life, I guess.

Thank you to all who came out in the cold to draw with us and to Felix, a perfect model in so many ways.
